Obituary of Dale Edward Townsend

Dale Edward Townsend, of Edgerton, Alberta peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta after a long illness. He was 54 years old. Dale was born on February 6, 1963 in Calgary, Alberta. He married Helen Korpak and together they had two sons, Brett and Brad Townsend. Years after Helen's passing, Dale met Rita Sawchyn in 2009. They made a life together and married in August 2016. Dale went to school and earned his heavy duty mechanic ticket, he worked in that field for many years. Later he took schooling to become an oilfield operator and worked for Husky Energy for close to fifteen years. Nothing made Dale happier than being outside enjoying his favourite pastimes; hunting, fishing, quadding, camping, and riding his motorcycle. Dale's family and friends were very important to him and he will be greatly missed. Dale is survived by his wife, Rita Townsend; sons, Brett (Amanda Skilnick) Townsend and Brad Townsend; daughters, Crystal (Mike) Moore, Charlene (Byron Lockhart) Benson and Chelsi (Vern Lind) Benson; grandchildren, Skylor and Serina Moore; sisters, Carol (Don) Noble, Gail (Lorne) Armstrong and Judy (Guy) St. Laurent; grandmother-in-law, Granny Smith; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Gloria Sawchyn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen (Rod) Donaldson, James (Diane) Sawchyn, Sheila (Warren) Johnson and Darren (Shonda) Sawchyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family and friends. Dale was not only predeceased by his first wife, Helen; but also his father and mother, Wilbur "Bill" and Norma Townsend. Funeral Service for Dale will take place Friday, July 14, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Edgerton Agricultural Hall.
