Sorry to hear that David has passed away. I apologize for the delay in posting this but I just found out. I initially met David at Marcam, however, we did not work directly together at that time. We did meet again during some project work at TransCanada. He was dependable and a good member of the project team. I remember though that one time his work colleagues wanted to give him a surprise birthday party one year. When David found out about it, the party was cancelled. I wish that I had gotten to know him better.

I was very saddened to hear of Dave's sudden passing and would like to extend my condolences to all his family. I knew Dave from his time on the Peace River Fire Department (AB). Dave was a Captain on the department when I joined in 1990, and he was a Deputy Chief when he left in 1999 to pursue his career in the computer world. Dave was a mentor and a friend and was the reason I joined the department in the first place! He even convinced me to take over his computer and website business when he moved away as well! Under Dave's guidance I became a Lieutenant on the department and was able to continue up the ranks after he left, in part I believe from the start he gave me.
Tim Harris, Fire Chief, Peace River Fire Department.

Maureen, Tamara, Clayton and Bob, I am so sorry to hear of Dave's sudden passing. I had the privilege of working with Dave for close to 20 years while he was a member of our team, way back in the Marcam days, to his consulting days across Alberta and again with us at Aveva. You have lost a great man and we all grieve with you. Having Dave join us in Burlington last May was a great time for us to catch up and means so much now. Take care. Sherry Quehl

Maureen, Tamara, Clayton, and Bob,
I would like to extend my condolences to each of you. The news is shocking and saddening. May your faith and family help during this difficult time.
I met Dave during our days in Marcam in 2000. We were on a large project together when he first joined the organization. The project was a highly visible, stressful and demanding. Dave and I were a little like the odd couple on the project. Nothing seemed to faze Dave. He was always on the emotional even keel. Then there I was with my Sicilian emotional reaction, hands flailing.
I had the good graces of sharing many good times in demanding situations and he had a knack of bring a laugh with his humour and quick wit. Although we weren’t in touch as much as we could have been, he was the type of person that you could pick up a conversation where it left off. He was always a professional and a wealth of knowledge that taught me a great deal about the maintenance business. It was an honour working and getting to know him.
Tonight I will raise a toast to his memory. Dave Hearty, rest in peace and until we meet again, share your humour.
Yours truly,
Joe Vella

Maureen, I am so sorry your time with Dave was so short. You guys were a perfect match. He often spoke of you when I would see him. I know he had many plans for when he had “slowed” down at work there was never really any mention of completely quitting. May you find comfort in the knowledge that he felt you were meant to be together. Hugs at this very sad time in your life❤️

My deepest condolences to David's Family.
David was my family for 13 years. He was a very smart man, I remember David , Myself(Jeanette Beckett)Hearty, and my then husband working long hours sawing lumber for farmers and the oil companies. I am so proud of his accomplishments. I had the opportunity to tell David in a conversation on the phone a year ago.
