Dear Karen, Bruce and all her family.. When visiting my Mom (Elva Hancock) at the Pioneer Lodge, it was always so nice to see Ruby out and about. She was such a sweet & kind lady. I know Mom is going to miss her dear friend a lot, especially sharing meals together at their same table. Mom will also miss seeing you, Karen, especially in the past few months when your Mom needed that extra-loving care. Ruby will be sadly missed.

Aunt Ruby was faithful in writing the most newsy Christmas letters to our family, as recently as this last Christmas. She was a real easy person to talk with; her memory very sharp and her kindness very evident. May the peace that comes from the memories of the love she shared with all comfort you at this time of grief. She was an amazing lady and a wonderful Aunt to me.
May God's blessing rest on each and every member of her family!
Love,
Phyllis (Brooks) Ardley

My Aunt Ruby was an intelligent, compassionate and caring person. We shared many activities together during our childhood days on the farm in Manitoba. Although she was my aunt, she was in many ways like an older sister. In later years she went to school in Winnipeg and often visited my Mum and Dad. I was a bridesmaid at her wedding. In subsequent years my family and I visited her on the farm in Marwayne where we enjoyed horseback riding, fresh milk, and eggs with golden yellow yolks as offered by Ruby's superb cooking skills.
I will miss her cheery Christmas letters, and our pleasant telephone conversations.

Ruby - or Nana as I called her - was the ultimate home-maker, a seamstress, and a whirlwind in the kitchen. I remember spending time on the farm each summer, helping pick berries and veggies from the garden. She would make cinnamon buns, and start pickling, and making jellies and jams from all the fresh produce. She'd always give me heck for chewing on pea pods. She will be missed by many.
