When I was teaching in Edgerton and Maryann Sparks was working in Wainwright she would drop her boys off at morning football practice and I would pick them up and take them to school with me. This was Bob and Joe, as when Lorne hit football practices they were after school. The boys would often talk about their Uncle Doug, who lived in Elk Point at this time, they were very fond of him, he was obviously very good to them have enjoyed him immensely. Later Doug moved to Wainwright and I knew him as a good friend to my brother in law, Doug Roberts and also a good friend to me. When Lynn and I were remodelling our house and cutting the renovations too close to Christmas, Doug helped out with the painting when he had other obligations and we finished up late on December 23rd. Our kids came home to a finished house. Doug was a generous person, many will miss him.
