Ethel and Spud were friends of the family back when my Grandfather (Sandy Scott) farmed at the border just east of Chauvin. I grew up listening to my Dad (Vern Scott) and his siblings (Lorne and Helen) talk about Spud Dickson and the Wrights. My Dad and Gordon Wright were friends, and Ethel and my Aunt Helen were closer in age to each other. I spoke with Ethel by phone in the late 1980s when I was working in Edmonton and I bought a couple of local history books from her to gift to my dad and my aunt. More recently (April 2019) I was fortunate to visit with Ethel one Sunday afternoon in Wainwright. She was 92 at the time but was sharp as a tack and told me stories of visiting as a youngster in my grandmother's kitchen at the Scott farm. A wonderful lady who I know will be missed.
