Obituary of John J Plaska

On Wednesday, January 20, 2021 Mr. John Plaska of Wainwright, Alberta and formerly of Two Hills, Alberta passed away at the Wainwright Health Centre at the age of 94 years. He is survived by his loving family; his wife of 71 years, Anne; daughter, Denise; granddaughter, Jess; grandsons, Marc (Debbie) Petasky, Michael (Tanya) Petasky; his great grandchildren, Gregory, Amber, Tristan, Ethan and Katie; sister, Rosalind Beach. He was predeceased by daughter, Linda; parents, John and Mary; brothers, George and Fred. John was a remarkably devoted Husband, Dad, and Gido. He always put his family first - his pride and joy. John was a kind, patient man with strength like no other. He led by example, took advantage of every teaching opportunity and was quick to share his best advice; be it vehicle troubles, garden tips, or what to have for weekly family dinner. John's zest for life was unmatched and he was never "too old" to learn something new. He truly treasured the simple things and was often found outside soaking up the sun, feeding his birds and enjoying the fresh air. John had a spunky sense of humor and was rarely spotted without his smile; we will miss that the most. There will be no formal services held at this time. A celebration of John’s life will take place at a later date. John's family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wainwright Wildlife Society as John loved all things outdoors. The Wainwright Wildlife Society is currently working on a new 7.5km trail system along the Battle River Slope, including scenic rest areas, wooded trails, and Bluebird nest boxes.
