Dear Mrs. Beare. Always Mr. & Mrs. Beare to me. I babysat their children in CFB Shilo, Manitoba before Jennifer was born, then a wee baby.
I hadn't heard from Mrs. Beare this Christmas, which is the time we always exchanged Christmas cards, so began to wonder if everything was okay with her. I tried tracking her down, first with a call to her phone #, which was not in service, then through the children, who I couldn't connect with. We have always kept in touch over the years, and we named our daughter after Mrs. Beare when our "Marcia" was born in 1975.
So very fond of the Beares and loved the Christmas messages with all the news of the children, who are no longer children, with families of their own.
Deeply saddened by Mrs. Beare's death, and so sorry for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mrs. Beare was a true lady, and I shall miss her dearly. So glad we got to connect with her in Ottawa in 2018.
Our love to all. Judy, Mel, Chad, Marcia

Some of my warmest childhood memories and stories have Beares in them — With matriarch Marcia and my Mum, Barbara Calnan and their friends, all young brides, raising new families in a foreign allied land while their husbands developed Canada’s artillery presence in Cold War Europe. The wives as courageous and brave as their husbands, only they had babies and toddlers to manage and did it in heels. Marcia was such a joyful, kind and positive light and dear friend to Mum. I simply can’t picture her without a smile, always welcoming our family at different chapters of our lives. When we reconnected back in Shilo, Manitoba in the 70’s, our tween and teen years, the Beares introduced us to life ‘out west’, another frontier. We looked forward to Marcia’s annual Christmas newsletter to catch up on the growing Beare family—she and Archie were so proud of all of you. Mum and Dad (Mike Calnan), were thrilled when Beare “kids” would visit or come to their annual ‘Gunners & Golfers’ events when they had retired to Kemptville. Marcia was one of Mums favorite visitors to their snowbird Florida home and they enjoyed cruising the Caribbean together.

To all the Beare and Murray families' our sincere condolences to you all on the extremely sad news of Marcia's passing.
We were fortunate enough to meet Marcia and Archie on the first day we arrived in Wainwright on 29th May 2001.
No sooner had we walked into our new home when we heard a knock on the door standing there to welcome us to Wainwright were Marcia and Archie along with a basket of freshly baked buns.
That was the start of a wonderful friendship. We will treasure the memories of the fun and enjoyable times we shared together over the last 20 years.
We became so found of Marcia that we called her our Canadian Mum .
Marcia was beautiful inside and out, an amazing woman, kind and generous who touched the lives of everyone she met.
We will miss her so very much .

There are so many wonderful things I could say about Marcia from her beauty and hostessing to her class and genuine "niceness." But the thing that has always stood out for me was her positive attitude and the way she affirmed others. She brought a true beauty into the lives of those around her. The world shone brighter for her presence. Our love and prayers to her family and friends. We have truly lost one of God's very real blessings in our lives. Owen and Ann Marie Nicklin

I always felt like part of the family and one of Mom Beare’s boys. Over the last couple of years it was fun playing Scrabble and chatting - such a good sport, although she did seem to take great pleasure whenever she beat me :-). To the entire clan, Bev and I wish you comfort and peace surrounded by your loved ones in this time of loss, reflection and fond memories of a life well lived. Big hugs all around, Guy

I will always treasure my time singing with Marcia. Her sweet demeanor and kind nature always brightened my week—I don’t think that I ever saw her with anything but a smile on her face. I remember what a wonderful host she was for River Hills get-togethers, inviting our group into her home without hesitation and always making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. One of my favourite memories was when Marcia gave us a baby gift just after the birth of our first child. She gave us an adorable Christmas decoration, a little Santa on a rocking horse—she wanted to make sure that our November baby had a special Christmas ornament of her own. It comes out every year to decorate our daughters room at Christmas time; a special gift from a special lady. She will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to Marcia’s family, wishing you peace and comfort in this time of sorrow.

Our deepest sympathies to all members of the Beare family. Marcia was an extraordinary woman that we had the pleasure of knowing for more than 50 years. Marcia was a caring person who showed a heartfelt and enduring interest in all she met and never left a need wanting where she could help. She was justifiably proud of her family and loved to share their triumphs and life steps with her friends while showing an equal degree of interest in them and their families. We will miss our friend.

I am truly saddened to learn of the passing of Marcia. What a glorious friend she has been over so many wonderful years. We came together at CFB Shilo in the early 1960's when I had the pleasure of playing basketball with Archie. He and Jim Cotter were the backbone of the Gunner team and led us to a number of local and regional championships. Some will remember the outstanding Gunner cruise to Hawaii a few years ago. We had the pleasure of sharing dinner with Marcia and Archie for the whole of the cruise, and what a great pleasure that was. And on their frequent visits to Victoria we were able to gather and remember all of those glorious and memorable days. I send heartfelt condolences to the many family members who loved Marcia so greatly, and to all of her many friends who will miss her so much and will surely miss her many contacts. Indeed over so many years, it has been such a wonderful journey of Gunner love.

What a great Artillery Family. I have known the entire family for many years. I worked for and shared postings with Archie and Marcia for many years. I watched Stu, Murray and Jennifer grow up. I watched them graduate from RMC. I followed their careers and attended Stu’s retirement. I always found the family very friendly and caring. They always cared for Marcia and had her in their thoughts. Marcia was great leader. I Send my sincere condolences to the family. I am proud to call them friends both professionally and socially. To all the Beare and Murray families, we would like to send our deepest sympathies to all. I, Barb, had the best of time getting to know Marcia through Deb's three children, at the Wainwright Elementary School. She also volunteered her time at WES in the library every Tuesday. Marcia shared her humor, knowledge and great personality. An amazing woman who enriched the lives of everyone she met.

Upon my first posting to Wainwright, Marcia and Archie welcomed me into their home and became the utmost of friends and a fellow parishioner of St. Thomas's. It was Marcia's nudging that "influenced" me to join the choir. From hosting, to cooking to volunteering, she was always busy and thinking of others, and I doubt a day passed where she didn't proclaim pride in one or several family members. I last saw her when I was performing in Wainwright in February 2020 where we spoke during the break and she insisted I sign copies of my book to her sons... Marcia will be very much missed. My heartfelt condolences to Murray, Stu, Deb and the entire family. - Tim Isberg
