Obituary of Ronald James Scribner

On Saturday, November 6, 2021 Mr. Ronald Scribner of Wainwright, Alberta passed away at the Wainwright Health Center at the age of 70 years. Ron is survived by his loving family; wife of 51 years, Marsha; two sons, Kevin (Katrina) Scribner of Wainwright & Brad Scribner of Wainwright; God Granddaughter, Tegan Colp of Wainwright; his sister, Donna (Eugene) Larocque of Thomson Manitoba & numerous in-laws and their families. Verna and Jim Scribner raised Ronnie and his older sister Donna in rural MB near Ninette (Tisdale country school) and later Killarney where Ron finished Grade 10. He enrolled in HD Mechanics at Assiniboine College in Brandon which, at the age of 19, gave him the mechanic job opportunity at Brandon CCIL depot. Ron met Marsha Johnson in July and they married in September 1970. Amid moves and job changes sons Kevin and Bradley were born. The young family settled in Wainwright AB in 1976 and established their "place to call home" on an acreage where their custom spraying business began and is still in operation. Each of the countless jobs Ron tackled he did well. His passions included tractors, equipment, auctions, travel, visiting, story telling and laughter. He got teased about his exorbitant tipping in Mexico, the fact he could say the alphabet backwards, his quick wit and quick temper, his ability to reassemble a floor full of motor parts and his inability to figure out a household appliance. Ron worked hard, met and enjoyed the company of hundreds of people, led a full life and made it impossible to abbreviate his existence in a couple of paragraphs. With Ron's many talents, ALS disease was something he just couldn't fix. Over the past two years it took his strength, appetite, mobility, and his very memorable voice. With some innovative household customization, Dr. Hay's house calls, and two special helpers, Ron was able to stay at home until his final 3 days. He was happy to receive so many visitors during that time and was thrilled to welcome everyone who attended his surprise COVID drive-by 70th birthday at the acreage. Thank you to all who sent cards, condolences, food, and flowers upon his passing. You will have your own memories of knowing "Scrib" Family and friends are encouraged to visit the funeral home on Tuesday, November 16 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at which time you will be given the opportunity to express your condolences to the family and pay your final respects to Ron if so desired.
