Obituary of Barbara Anne Ozipko

On Friday, July 29, 2022, Ms. Barbara Ozipko passed away at her home in Wainwright, Alberta at the age of 71 years. She courageously faced her diagnosis of renal failure in Sep 2020 and was extremely grateful to her all her caregivers, the ICU and Renal teams at the U OF A, including her social worker, the staff at the Mennonite House for taking her in like family until she could come back to Wainwright, the Nephrologists and Nurses from the Edmonton/Northern Alberta Peritoneal Dialysis Clinic, especially Stephanie. Additionally, the homecare team in Wainwright for all their compassion, particularly Trudy. The concern and professionalism from all the healthcare members was sincerely appreciated by Barbara. Barbara is survived by her loving family; nieces, Kimberley (Wayne Hussey) Ettel, Mandy (Bill De Rooy) Ettel; her great nieces and nephews close to her heart, Raya, Tyler, Emmerson, Breanna, Kennedy, Kashtyn, River, and Ryker; as well as numerous extended family and dear friends. She is predeceased by her father, Michael Ozipko; her sister, Marlene Ettel; brother-in-law, Raymond Ettel; and niece, Raelene Anderson. No formal services will be held at this time. Cha Cha Barbara was a kind and gentle soul, despite the fact she never married or had children, she was always concerned with the well being of her sister and her sisters family. She was a second mom to Kimberley and Mandy and a surrogate grandma to her great nieces and nephews. All of our hearts are heavy with her loss and a large light in our lives is noticeably missed. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honour to the Mennonite Guest House of Edmonton, or to the local animal shelter of your choice.
