Obituary of Anne Plaska

On Thursday, July 14, 2022, Mrs. Anne Plaska of Wainwright, Alberta, formerly of Two Hills, Alberta, passed away at Wainwright Health Centre, Wainwright, Alberta at the age of 96 years. Anne was a devoted Wife, Mom and Baba. She took pride in caring for her family and welcomed everyone into her home. She was never too busy for a visit and the coffee pot was always on. Anne's hands were never idle. In her 96 years, she probably pinched a million perogies - her last batch being Christmas 2021. Anne enjoyed gardening and canning, feeding the birds, baking and decorating cakes, making silk flowers, crocheting and knitting. Many people enjoyed the fruits of her labour - be it good food, special occasion cakes and silk flowers or a knitted or crocheted item. She enjoyed a good card game and never lost her competitive edge or her ability to add up a score, in her head, faster than anyone could tally on paper. In later years, she loved watching game shows, hockey and football. We will miss her feisty personality, her caring manner and her presence at the perogy pinching table. Anne is survived by her loving family; daughter, Denise; granddaughter, Jess (Cody); grandsons, Marc (Debbie) Petasky, Michael (Tanya) Petasky; her great grandchildren, Gregory, Amber, Tristan, Ethan and Katie. She was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Linda; parents, Peter and Martha Taschuk; sisters, Ruth, Jennie, Mary, Rose; brothers, Metro, Alex, Bill, Nick, baby brother Nykolay. A celebration of life for Anne and her late husband John, will take place Saturday, September 24. 2022 at Grace United Church, Fellowship Hall, Wainwright, Alberta at 1:00pm Anne’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wainwright Wildlife Society.
