Obituary of Marina (Hollinger) Metz

On Monday, November 28, 2022, Marina (Hollinger) Metz, passed away at Viking Health Centre, Viking, Alberta at the age of 87 years. Our world has been left with a gaping hole as she transformed into an angel. Beste was a caring and genuine person with strong beliefs and had no problems being open and honest about them. She had no partial or part-time friendships. As many people know personally, she had a way of stealing part or all of your heart with one just short visit. Marina (Beste) is loved and remembered by her family; sons, Doug Hollinger of Calgary, Alberta, Dwayne Hollinger of Alberta, Curtis (Tanya) Hollinger of Irma, Alberta; grandchildren, Kailynne (Chance Friend) Hollinger, Gavin Hollinger; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Marina is predeceased by the love of her life and first husband, Gordon Hollinger; second husband, Lyle Metz; her parents, Alma & Nels Thompson; her siblings, Doris Ross, Harold Thompson, Ruth Clarke, Nels “Bud” Thompson, and Joanne Sorensen. A short graveside celebration of life will be held January 7, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the Sharon Lutheran Church Cemetery near Irma, Alberta. All family and friends are invited to attend. A fellowship and luncheon will follow at the New Horizons Seniors’ Centre in Irma, Alberta starting at 12:30 pm. For any memorial donations made in Marina’s name, the family encourages giving to a local charity as a thank you to the communities she held dear. Suggested charities are the Battle River Lodge in Wainwright, Alberta, the Viking Health Foundation (Palliative Care) in Viking, Alberta, the Sharon Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund in Irma, Alberta or the Hastings Lake Bible Camp.
