Obituary of Vernon Leslie Sjoquist

On Monday May 22, 2023, Mr Vernon Sjoquist passed away at Points West at the age of 99 years.  

Vernon was born August 8, 1923 on the farm at Spy Hill, Saskatchewan. He was the third of 8 children born to Jonas Oscar Sjoquist and Caroline (Gabrielson) Sjoquist.

Vernon lived a long, full and good life, and leaves to mourn his passing, his children Elaine (Jim) Hahn of Lethbridge, Terry (Rosalie) Sjoquist of Edgerton, Lorne (Marlene) Sjoquist of Wainwright and Lennis (Barb) Sjoquist of Edgerton as well his brother Carl Sjoquist of Lindale, Ab. Vernon also leaves his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tammy, Wayne, Skyler & Levi Hofer; Neal, Angela, Taylor & Makenna Hahn; Trina, Zane & Mallory Lapierre; Michelle, Lance, Kaitlin & Nolan Krawchuck; Dean, Isabelle Falardeau, Hunter, Noah Sjoquist & Jack Falardeau; Shawna, Paul, Isabelle, Hanna & Georgia Benoit; Jena, Brett, Kelcy, Collins, Charleah & Betty Stafford; Carissa, Dave, Norah & Diem Therou; Riley, Ceanna, Ryder & Odeya Sjoquist. Vernon also leaves numerous, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Vernon was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia, his brothers Emil, Raymond, Albin, and Harold Sjoquist and his sisters Rosabel Cherry , Doris Fraser and his parents, Oscar and Caroline Sjoquist.

A funeral service will be conducted for Vernon Sjoquist on May 26, 2023 2:00 pm at Edgerton Agricultural Hall, Edgerton, Ab.  If so desired, the family suggests memorial donations can be made to Edgerton Historical Society, Faith United Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
